Handwound Collins Pickups, made in Texas:
  • These are the model ’78 genuine Collins custom hand wound vintage stagger pickup set wound hot and made from the finest materials
  • Rio Vista Heat
What is Rio Vista Heat?  It starts as a vintage stagger pickup and is wound hotter’n pepper puddin’ in the Texas sun .187 Alnico 5 magnets oriented S-N-S spec and calibrated for strength. These pickups hit the amp hard and push the tubes into breaking up. But it’s not only all about the dirt, roll back the volume and they clean up to a sweet sound or punch it up and crank out stinging Texas Blues RockThese pickups are overwound progressively 16% to bridge for balance and a hotter output.
High quality black vulcanized fiber flatwork .062 top with gray .093  bottoms
Made in the U.S.A. hand wound in Texas in my own shop
  • Though ohms are subject to change in temperature these read around
  • 6.24 K (neck) 2.63 Henries
  • 6.77 K (mid) 2.98 Henries
  • 7.50 K (bridge) 3.28 Henries
    measured around 70 degrees

These pickups come un-taped as the originals were, extreme caution should be used when mounting as not to disturb the coils or the wax potting

The sandcast alnico 5 magnets were sealed before winding in my own resin formula to prevent magnet to wire failure
Wound with a beautiful bright red modern poly-nylon AWG42 wire and potted in paraffin/bees wax to silence microphonics.
Vintage black/white cloth wiring for the most demanding hookups. Vintage surgical rubber tubing with nickel screws
  • 52mm spacing profile
  • Note: These Model T-178 scatterwound pickups will hum cancel in the 4th and 2nd positionsThey have all the quack and chime early single coils are known for with much higher output
Dripping with tone and ready to rock
They will shine in Blues, Texas Blues,Rock, Classic Rock, Psychedelic Blues, Jazz or Country any genre you put them through
