Description
- Neck Profile: The neck has a “Soft V” profile. This shape is a key feature and is specifically designed to be comfortable for players who find traditional C or D shapes too bulky, offering a feel that’s both fast and supportive.
- Fretboard Radius: It has a uniform 12″ radius. This is a popular choice among modern players as it provides a good balance between comfort for chording and a flatter surface for easy string bending without “fretting out.”
- Neck Width:
- At the nut: 1-5/8″ (41.3 mm)
- At the last fret: 2-3/16″ (55.6 mm)
The width is slightly narrower at the nut than some standard guitars, which contributes to the “fast” feel that many players, including S. L. himself, prefer.
- Fret Type: The guitar is equipped with 22 low profile, wide frets. This low-profile design is intended to provide a smooth, low-drag playing surface, making it easier for fast legato and tapping techniques.
- Neck Wood: The neck is made from a select figured Birdseye or Flame roasted maple. The roasting process removes moisture from the wood, making it more stable and less susceptible to changes in humidity, in addition to giving it a darker, vintage look.
- Fretboard wood: The fretboard is made from a select 3A Rosewood
- Neck Finish: The finish is a hand-rubbed blend of gunstock oil and a special wax blend. This finish is known for its exceptionally smooth, non-sticky feel, allowing the hand to glide effortlessly along the neck. It feels like natural wood, not a thick, glossy lacquer.
